PEC offering $100k in scholarships
Applications now available to high school and home-schooled seniors
As part of its ongoing commitment to youth and education, Pedernales Electric Cooperative will once again offer scholarships to eligible high school and home-schooled seniors in its service area. This year, the cooperative is offering $100,000 in scholarships. Applications for the 2017 school year are now available.
Scholarships will range from $2,500 to $10,000. The funds can be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school or trade school.
Recipients will be selected based on their applications, including an essay, academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities and financial need. This year’s essay prompt asks students:
What are some of the biggest challenges teenagers see in their community? What changes or programs would you implement to improve the community in which you live?
Additionally, PEC will be offering a PEC Rodeo Team Scholarship that awards tools and full tuition to the Northwest Lineman College.
Each scholarship recipient must be at the 12th grade level through public, private or home-schooled education, and their parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member.
Applications are judged by an independent panel. All scholarship materials must be submitted online by Friday, March 24. Learn more at pec.coop/scholarships.
