Introducing our 2018 PEC Youth Tour delegates!
Winners receive all-expenses-paid tip to Washington, D.C.
On Nov. 30, 10 high school students from PEC’s service area were recognized at an awards reception honoring the winners of the cooperative’s Youth Tour essay contest.

This year’s essay prompt challenged students to develop a fun and educational PEC program for middle- or high-school students. Finalists were also interviewed in person before being named one of our 2018 delegates.
“This is a high-caliber group of students who are well-spoken, polite and excited about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” PEC Youth Engagement Representative Celeste Mikeska said. “Year after year, our Hill Country youth impress us and represent their community well.”
Our contest winners will visit Washington, D.C., on an all-expenses-paid trip, joining nearly 1,500 students from other electric cooperatives around the country. They will visit historical sites, meet their local representatives and see government in action firsthand.
PEC has participated in the Youth Tour program for more than 60 years. Learn more at pec.coop/youth-tour.
