PEC members targeted in phone scam
PEC will never call members to threaten immediate disconnection
PEC members have received phone calls this week from people claiming to be PEC agents who threaten to disconnect service for nonpayment. The callers may use a 1-800 phone number and may instruct members to make payments via a third-party pay service at various retail locations to prevent their service from being disconnected.
These phone calls are illegitimate and do not come from representatives of PEC. If you receive this call, do not give the callers your personal or financial information. Please hang up the phone and call PEC Member Services at 888-554-4732, the number printed on your bill, to report the scam and verify your account status.
PEC will never call to threaten immediate disconnection, and we never require members to pay via third-party systems.
