Planned power interruptions for upgrades in San Marcos area Oct. 24-26
Several sections will experience three-hour power interruptions
PEC will perform a power conversion on our Hunter substation from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 24–26, upgrading its 7,200-volt capacity to 14,400 volts to meet area growth. Members in the southern San Marcos area may experience service interruptions during this time.
“These actions significantly and positively impact PEC’s ability to operate an efficient and reliable system,” said PEC Director of Operations Jerold Terry. “While there will be a brief interruption on the day of the conversion, the potential for outages due to the significant growth and increased load needs will be greatly diminished.”
If your location will be affected, you should have received a letter notifying you of the three-hour window in which an interruption will occur. Please be aware that our crews will need to access our transformers to complete this project. We request that you keep gates unlocked and dogs restrained. Every effort will be made to restore service as quickly as possible.
At PEC, we’re constantly improving our system to continue bringing you the reliable service you depend on. If you have any questions, experience a service interruption outside your designated three-hour window or your power is not restored by 5:30 p.m., please contact us at 877-372-0391 and press 4. After business hours, call 888-883-3379.
