PEC launches new Time-of-Use Rate option
When you use energy — not just how much — counts
Pedernales Electric Cooperative is now offering a new time-of-use rate option — continuing its promise to provide members affordable rate options that best fit their individual energy needs.
With time-of-use rates, members pay different rates for electricity based on the time of day and season they consume and use energy, rather than pay a flat rate throughout the year.
“We’re committed to bringing our members a variety of rate options that will best fit their needs and lifestyles,” said PEC Rates & Pricing Manager Natalia Mack. “Because time-of-use rates are based on time and seasons, when you use electricity is as important as how much you use.”
The key to time-of-use rates is members have the ability to affect their montly bill by reducing or shifting electric use throughout the day. Time-of-use rates can help PEC members save money if they are able to reduce energy usage during peak times when electricity prices are highest. Members can also save money by shifting energy usage to off-peak periods when electricity prices are least expensive, such as nights.
