Energy Savings

Homegrown savings with Energy-Saving Trees

2,500 free trees will be distributed to PEC members this fall

As autumn dapples the Hill Country’s foliage red and gold, PEC members are finding new ways to celebrate trees. Across our service territory, 2,500 new bur oaks, bald cypresses and pecan trees are putting down roots in members’ yards — and everyone in the cooperative is benefiting from the savings.

The free trees were distributed last month through Energy-Saving Trees, PEC’s new partnership program with the Arbor Day Foundation. By providing strategic shade to members’ homes, the trees help reduce homeowners’ energy bills. But they also do so much more.

Missed your chance to get a free tree? Energy-Saving Trees will spring back in early 2018. Stay tuned!
