PEC is more than an ordinary utility. We’re a cooperative, meaning we follow principles such as concern for community and democratic member control. It also means you’re more than a customer. You’re a member, an owner of the cooperative with unique privileges and rights.
Our rates, bylaws, options and more are approved by our PEC Board of Directors, a seven-member team of members just like you, elected by cooperative members just like you.
As a nonprofit cooperative, when our revenues exceed expenses, we earn margins, which we reinvest in our operations and eventually return to you in the form of capital credits.
We take pride in offering rates and payment options to suit your needs, and every PEC employee, from the Member Relations agents who answer your phone call to the engineers who design our system, comes to work every day dedicated to serving you.
We’ve never forgotten that we were created by our members. That’s why we give back in a variety of ways, including grants to area nonprofits, volunteer days, youth programs and more.
