Nominations for 2019 election open Jan. 15

Run to represent your community in District 4 or 5

PEC is proud to be member-led. This year, members in districts 4 and 5 have the opportunity to run for seats on the PEC Board of Directors.

Beginning Jan. 15, members may access petition forms and information on our Nomination by Petition webpage, by calling 888-554-4732, or by requesting materials at any PEC office. These materials include qualifications, instructions, an application, maps of PEC board districts, and forms for submitting background information and collecting member signatures.

New this year, applicants may access the nomination petition forms online, download them, and fill them out at their convenience. Once complete, signed original petition materials must be received or hand-delivered to the Board Recording Secretary at PEC Headquarters no later than March 26 at 5 p.m.

Members seeking nomination for PEC director positions must:

  • Maintain a primary residence and receive continuous electric service for at least one year in the PEC board district in which they seek election. (See Article III of the PEC bylaws for complete qualifications.)
  • Obtain verifiable signatures from 50 members who live within the nominee’s board district or have designated a voting residence within that district.
  • Completed petition materials must be received or hand-delivered to the Board Recording Secretary at PEC Headquarters, 201 S. Avenue F Johnson City, Texas 78636, no later than March 26 at 5 p.m.

A qualifications review committee composed of members will verify nominees’ qualifications. After petition signatures and nominees’ qualifications are verified, PEC plans to announce the director candidates April 15.

Visit our Election HQ to learn more, and find materials on our Nomination by Petition page after Jan. 15.
