Upgrades bring increased power reliability to Lakeway, Bee Creek areas

PEC teams worked together to upgrade more than 400 transformers

PEC completed a substation conversion affecting 939 members in the Lakeway and Bee Creek areas July 11, the latest project in our ongoing system-wide upgrades. More than 400 transformers were switched from 7,200-volt (v) capacity to 14,400 v, improving load capacity and system reliability as well as allowing us to better serve our growing membership.

“This conversion not only increases our load capacity, but it allows us to reduce a lot of wear and tear on our equipment, which helps us save our members even more money,” PEC Journeyworker Michael Gonzalez said. “This conversion and planning have been years in the making. Thanks to that planning and our skilled workers, everything went well.”

Day in and day out, we never stop working to improve your reliability. Whether we’re making upgrades in the remote Hill Country or our busy cities, we’re PEC Proud to serve you.
