PEC crew delivers top-notch teamwork
Member thanks Bertram District crew for their service
At PEC, our crews constantly work hard to keep the lights on โ fixing issues and restoring power โ rain or shine. We strive to prevent outages, but when they occur, getting the power back on is a top priority once it is safe to do so. PEC lineworkers are central to this work โ fulfilling our promise to deliver safe, reliable, low-cost power to you and more than a million Central Texans.

While April 18 is National Lineman Appreciation Day, a special “thank you” arrived early.
On a Thursday afternoon in January, PEC’s Bertram office received a call from member O.J. Kramer of Liberty Hill. An accident on Mr. Kramer’s property resulted in a broken transformer pole and service pole, which caused a small outage. Within 45 minutes, Boyd Edwards, Bertram regional operations supervisor, responded to the call with a crew of lineworkers. The crew was able to repair the pole and restore power to all affected members within hours.
Days later, PEC received a thank-you letter from Mr. Kramer, recognizing Edwards and each member of his PEC team on their speed, professionalism, and a job well-done. Kramer, a former electrician of 30 years, understood the scope of the project and was impressed with the outcome of his service. In his letter, Kramer thanked each employee who helped and wanted them to know that their team effort did not go unnoticed.
“In my life, I have never seen such teamwork,” Kramer said. “I assumed it would take 10 to 12 hours to restore power, but these men did it in less than three.”
The next day, PEC lineworkers returned and replaced the damaged service pole.
“To be honest, I did not think it could be done,” Kramer said. “I was wrong! What these men accomplished was beyond good service, it was an amazing job and remarkable display of teamwork and professionalism.”
Edwards says he and his crew were happy to help.
“We’re just doing what we do every day, getting members back up as quickly and safely as possible,” Edwards said. “We love what we do, and so we come together and work together to get the job done.”
