PEC member perks

What it means to be part of our cooperative

At PEC, we’re committed to being more than your electric provider. We have a rich history serving members and communities with a partnership more than 80 years strong. As a PEC member, you are an owner of this organization, its history, and its future. Learn more about the benefits of belonging to our cooperative.

We’re proudly led by you
Our Board of Directors, made up of elected members, governs our cooperative. Board meetings are open to the public and are published on our website. As a member, your vote is your voice and our elections are your chance to have your say in direction and leadership. Learn more about our elections.

We offer competitive rates and plans
Our rates are among the lowest in Texas, and well below the national average. PEC members enjoy a residential rate that’s nearly 20% lower than the national average, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA).* PEC members currently enjoy a residential rate that is more than 10% lower than the average rate available to Texans in competitive areas.**

Choose from rates and payment options that suit your needs, including our Time-of-Use Rate plan that offers a lower rate for electricity used during non-peak times.

Member satisfaction matters
From our focus on reliability out in the field to the Member Relations agent who answers your call, you can count on the highest-quality service. Even as we experience historic growth, we remain committed to our reliability, serving you, and being a leading cooperative. We recently ranked among the top 10 electric providers in the nation on J.D. Power’s list for member satisfaction. And the Austin American-Statesman named us Best Electrical Company in its Best of the Best Awards.

We care for our communities
PEC members care about their neighbors and give back. Our members also show their generosity through our Power of Change program. In 2018, our Community Grants Program provided more than $32,000 to 11 area nonprofits. Recent recipients include food banks; area volunteer fire departments; and organizations benefitting local seniors, children, and animals. Through our scholarship program, we awarded $120,000 to 40 high school seniors and sent 10 students to Washington D.C., in 2019 for Youth Tour.

We reinvest in the cooperative and return excess revenue to our members
As a member-owned, nonprofit, we do not pay dividends to shareholders. When revenues exceed expenses, we reinvest in the cooperative’s operations and return the rest to our members through capital credits. Additionally, if our costs to serve are reduced, we lower rates for our members. Since December 2014, we’ve had seven consecutive rate reductions and in 2018, PEC members received nearly $11.9 million in capital credits.

Thank you for being part of PEC and our valued partner! We appreciate you and look forward to providing safe, reliable, and low-cost power to you and your community for years to come.
