For decades, PEC has been proud to support education in Central Texas through youth programs, educational foundation giving, and scholarships. Last year, we gave $100,000 in scholarships to regional students to attend the college, university, or trade school of their choice. This year, PEC is celebrating 20 years of scholarships by giving out an additional $20,000, bringing our total 2019 scholarships to $120,000.
“The PEC Scholarship Fund is proud to support Texan students as they attend post-secondary institutions, including technical schools, junior colleges, and universities,” PEC Community Engagement Director Trista Fugate said. “And of course, it is our sincere hope that students consider settling back home in Central Texas after receiving their education to ensure our thriving, vibrant community continues to prosper for many years to come.”
Founded 20 years ago, PEC’s scholarship program gave its first 10 awards for $500 each in the spring of 2000. In recent years, through the generous support of our members and the PEC Board of Directors, the program has grown to a $100,000 budget, allowing us to help even more students achieve their dreams.
Scholarships range from $2,500 to $10,000 and are supported by unclaimed property funds. The awards can be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school, or trade school. Each scholarship recipient must be a 12th grade high school student through public, private, or home-schooled education, and the scholarship recipient’s parent or legal guardian must be a PEC member in good standing.
We’re proud to have supported students for 20 years. We celebrate their achievements, and look forward to a bright future of celebrating many more.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 21, at 11:59 p.m. Visit pec.coop/scholarships to apply.
