Severe weather impacts PEC members
Crews respond to restore power to those affected
Severe weather swept across the PEC service territory late Friday, May 3, and into the early morning hours of Saturday, May 4, impacting thousands of members. After hours of hard rain and lightning, members throughout the service area were impacted, with Oak Hill, Kyle, Buda, and Canyon Lake areas being hit the hardest.

PEC lineworkers and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system operators in the Control Center worked tirelessly through the night to restore power to members. It’s estimated more than 20,000 members experienced a service interruption at some point during the storms. To help in the restoration efforts, over 100 lineworkers were dispatched and nine operators monitored the electrical system that spans across our 8,100-square-mile service territory.
As of 9 a.m. May 4, PEC had restored power to nearly 100% of members, but our crews continued to monitor and respond to outages as quickly and safely as possible.
