Test your GFCI outlets monthly
This simple tip will help protect you, your family
Water and electricity don’t mix. That’s why you’ll find most ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets in kitchens and bathrooms. To protect yourself against an accidental electric shock, make sure you test your GFCI outlets once a month. Here’s how:
- Plug a nightlight into the GFCI outlet, and turn the light on.
- Push the “Test” button; the light should go off.
- Push the “Reset” button to turn the light back on.
