PEC named a 2020 Top Workplace by Austin American-Statesman

Cooperative ranked among top 20 midsize employers

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC), the nation’s largest electric cooperative, is proud to announce it has been named a 2020 Top Workplace by the Austin American-Statesman, ranking among the top 20 midsize employers in the Greater Austin-area. Winners were selected based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey and verified by an independent research firm.

In addition to the Top Workplace award for Austin, PEC was also named a Top Workplace in San Antonio. Results were announced in the Top Workplaces special sections of the Austin American-Statesman and San Antonio Express-News. Within the survey, PEC employees scored the cooperative highly for having a mission with which they identify and work that provides a strong sense of purpose.

Employees who participated in the survey also believe they are valued and appreciated, say the cooperative supports a healthy work-life balance, and feel they are provided opportunities to reach their full potential. PEC received high scores in several areas, including competitive pay, continuing education, and employee recognition.

Over the past five years, PEC has seen historic and exponential growth in its service territory. Despite COVID-19, the cooperative is currently on track to surpass 2019’s record growth, adding an estimated 18,000 additional accounts in 2020. Attracting and retaining top talent is a key priority as the cooperative works to serve a growing membership.
