Responding to COVID-19
How your electric cooperative is ensuring reliability during a time of uncertainty
Like you, PEC is actively monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation. We have already made several adjustments to protect the safety and wellbeing of our members, our employees, and the communities we serve during these unique times.
On March 16, we closed all PEC offices to member and public interactions. With fewer people interacting face-to-face in our offices, we can do our part to practice social distancing and help reduce in-person contact. On March 16, we activated our Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to further protect our employees and our membership. This includes having a portion of our workforce work remotely at home.
Please rest assured — we’re still available to help meet your electric needs.
Providing reliable service
Now, more than ever, electric service is important. We maintain a critical infrastructure, and ensuring you and the hospitals and medical facilities we serve have uninterrupted power will continue to be our priority.
Your PEC crew in blue will continue to respond to outages and after-hours and emergency calls. Our Control Center team will also monitor our entire service territory and power grid as they do every hour of every day.
Should the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impact operations, we have a plan in place. Our Emergency Operations Plan address emergency situations ranging from devastating hurricanes and tornados to floods and pandemics. We are prepared and ready to respond in any emergency.
We’re here for you
Member relations agents are ready and available to answer your calls. Our telephone contact centers will remain open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you have questions, you can speak with a PEC representative at 888-554-4732. We will make sure to notify you when it is safe to reopen our offices to our membership.
Services
As always, we offer several convenient ways for you to pay your bill online, by phone, mail, payment kiosk, or at participating Moneygram locations. Learn how you can pay your bill without stepping into an office.
We also understand some members may be experiencing unexpected circumstances right now. If you need assistance during this time, please call us at 888-554-4732. We have a number of payment options and our agents are committed to finding a solution that works best for you.
If you experience a service interruption, report it online or by phone. As always, you can monitor outages at outages.pec.coop.
Keeping offices clean
Although our offices are closed to the public, we want to protect the employees who continue to work in our facilities in service of our membership. We’ve provided cleaning and sanitation supplies at all of our facilities. To take it a step further, we’ve enlisted experts to conduct a thorough pre-treat disinfection that kills pathogens and viruses for up to 90 days after treatment.
We’re a community
Many of PEC’s employees live and work in your communities — we are your neighbors and your friends. Being resilient during this time takes a community effort. PEC will be here working for you as your electric provider as we have for more than 80 years.
