Access free electricity-focused educational materials

EmpowerU has lesson plans for all ages

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is providing a series of electricity-focused lesson plans that are free to students, teachers, and parents as part of its EmpowerU program.

Resources include an in-depth circuit builder lesson plan complete with videos, worksheets, and a PowerPoint for third through sixth grade students, as well an electric safety activity booklet and coloring sheets for younger learners.

New this year, we have “Meet a Lineworker,” a lesson introducing students to the important job lineworkers do for our members. It contains a video and worksheet to get your third through eighth graders energized.

Parents and teachers can download these free materials at pec.coop/empoweru.

“Supporting our communities means supporting our educators,” Community Outreach Specialist Celeste Mikeska said. “With all the new safety measures in place, we are asking more of teachers and parents than ever, so we want to make things just a little easier on them.”

Mikeska urges educators to stay tuned for more great educational content. For additional kid-friendly materials, visit Camp Save-a-Watt activities from this summer.
