ERCOT conservation appeal

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a conservation appeal and is asking for energy conservation for today, so please conserve energy between noon and 8 p.m. Grid demand may continue through Wednesday, and we will alert you if conditions change.

Please follow the tips below to conserve energy:

  • Increase your thermostat
    Pick the highest temperature you’re comfortable with and set your thermostat — 78 degrees is recommended.
  • Reduce major appliance use
    While you’re using more energy to keep your home cool, reduce the use of major appliances like washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers.
  • Turn off lights and unplug electronics
    Turn off lights and unplug computers, gaming consoles, large-screen TVs, and other electronics when not in use. Electronics use energy just by being plugged in.
