October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

PEC is committed to protecting you and your information. This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we want members to know we provide secure payment options and never sell member information. Here are a few ways you can protect your cybersecurity:

  • Use complex and unique passwords, including for PEC’s SmartHub.
  • Avoid opening attachments and links in unexpected emails and texts.
  • Confirm the identity of those claiming to be employees if you aren’t sure.
  • Keep your computer and phone software up to date.
  • Use trusted Wi-Fi networks whenever possible.
  • Look for “https://” at the beginning of a website’s address before submitting information.

Shred Day

Protect your identity and join us for our free annual Shred Day at our Marble Falls office. The drive-thru, no-contact event allows participants to securely dispose of personal papers that shouldn’t be tossed in the trash. This event is free and open to the public.
 
Accepted items: White and colored paper, stapled or scotch-taped paper, envelopes with plastic windows, up to five boxes per person.
 
Not accepted items: Electronics, binders, hanging files, lithium batteries, plastic, trash, items with packing tape, paperclips, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, plastic, styrofoam, and other materials.
