PEC vegetation maintenance underway in Horseshoe Bay area

Maintenance necessary to help ensure members receive safe, reliable power

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) is resuming vegetation maintenance in the Horseshoe Bay area beginning August 9.

The work will include trimming of trees and plants that restrict access to PEC equipment, including underground lines.

This maintenance is necessary to ensure members receive safe, reliable power. Property owners can avoid having vegetation altered by following the guidelines outlined at pec.coop/trees.

“We understand that trees and landscaping are important to homeowners,” said PEC Vegetation Maintenance Supervisor Penny Whisenant-Swanner. “We only alter vegetation when necessary, and always try to work with members to reach agreeable solutions.”

The National Electric Safety Code as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) require PEC to maintain a safe distance and have an area clear of obstructions while working on or near energized equipment. PEC contractors Arbol and Worthy Commercial will assist with the vegetation maintenance.

Property owners with questions or concerns may contact PEC Distribution Program Coordinator Matthew Gonzalez at 800-868-4791, extension 3351.
