Team PEC dominates at Texas Lineman’s Rodeo
Journeyworkers and apprentices take home an incredible 16 awards
Team PEC continues to raise the bar in rodeo competition, turning in another elevated performance for 2022 at Texas Lineman’s Rodeo in Seguin on July 16. PEC topped all Texas utilities in both journeyworker and apprentice categories, winning an incredible total of 16 awards! PEC teams also won first place trophies for brisket and ribs in the BBQ cook-off — a serious competition in its own right.

The cooperative’s continued and growing success is the result of hard work put into building a culture of commitment and excellence. It also shows how effective investing in the training and safety of lineworkers can be. PEC opened the doors to our Safety and Technical Training Center in July of 2020, providing state-of-the-art training in the same skills tested during rodeo, skills that strengthen reliability for the entire system. We’re proud to see the investment in our employees paying off in the field for our members and for our hard-working competitors at rodeo.
“Rodeo is a tremendous opportunity for our lineworkers to hone and test their skills against the best in the state,” said PEC Chief Operations Officer Eddie Dauterive. “This accomplishment is a great way to show our members they can be confident in PEC — they are being served by the best of the best. If your power goes out, there’s no one better to have in your corner than PEC’s lineworkers.”
Up next in rodeo competition is International Lineman’s Rodeo to be held October 12-15 in Overland Park, Kansas. In 2021, Team PEC had their best showing ever at the event, so expectations are high.
Hats off to all competitors!
