You can now text PEC to report an outage
Text “outage” to 25022 to report power interruptions
PEC is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new feature. Members can now report an outage by simply texting the word “outage” to 25022 from a mobile device. Please only text “outage” to this number when you have a real outage to report. To verify your enrollment, confirm that your mobile number is listed in SmartHub or call 888-554-4732. Message and data rates may apply.
We recommend saving this number in your contacts as “PEC Outage.” Once you report the outage by text, our system will automatically send you updates, including an estimated time of restoration if it’s available.
To utilize this new feature, the number you text from must be associated with your account or meter and saved within your PEC account profile. If you have more than one account or meter associated with the same contact number, you will still need to report outages via SmartHub or by calling 888-883-3379.
Add your mobile number to SmartHub
- Log in or create your account at pec.smarthub.coop.
- From the top menu, select ‘My Information’ from the ‘My Profile’ drop down.
- Select ‘Update My Billing Address & Contact Information’ from the left menu.
- Add or confirm your mobile number in the ‘Mobile Phone’ box.
- Click ‘Save’ at the bottom. That’s it! It may take up to two business days for phone number changes to show up in SmartHub.
If you have previously opted out of texts from PEC, are unsure if you can receive them, or if you need help setting up this new feature on your phone, please call a Member Relations agent at 888-554-4732 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also add your mobile number in SmartHub in the My Profile section to sign up for text alerts.
We pride ourselves on being leaders in reliability and implementing technologies that improve the member experience. PEC looks forward to bringing you even more convenient texting features in the future, so stay tuned!
