ERCOT has returned to normal operations

Conservation was requested to protect the grid

Earlier, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) issued an Energy Emergency Alert and asked for energy conservation to protect the grid. The grid has now returned to normal operating conditions.

You can follow the tips below to conserve energy.

Raise your thermostat

Pick the highest temperature you’re comfortable with and set your thermostat there. It’s recommended to set it at 78 degrees or higher.

Reduce major appliance use

Reduce the use of major appliances like washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers. Make sure your water heater temperature is set to 120-125 degrees for additional savings.

Turn off lights and unplug electronics

Turn off lights and unplug computers, gaming consoles, large-screen TVs, and other electronics when not in use. Electronics use energy just by being plugged in.

Monitor your use

Worried about your energy costs? Monitor your energy use on SmartHub. You can analyze your daily use and know the costs before your bill arrives. Note that when the SmartHub system is unable to capture energy consumption, it estimates usage based on previous usage, which means it may show consumption even when your power was out — don’t worry, you will only be charged for electricity you used.
