Opening our hearts to our members
PEC shows love to our communities
Ever since our founding 85 years ago, the root of PEC’s mission has been focusing on our members. In addition to providing safe, reliable electricity, our employees and members give back to our communities through many different programs.
Community grants
Every spring and fall, we award grants of up to $5,000 each to eligible nonprofit organizations in our service territory. These grants are funded by our Power of Change Program, where members can round up their bills to the nearest dollar each month.
Education contributions
Powering our communities begins with providing resources to initiatives that will further the education of our future leaders. Each year, PEC provides $1,000 each to local education foundations across our service territory. These contributions are funded by our Power of Change Program. We’ve also continued to enhance our free learning programs to support youth education, including EmpowerU and Camp Save-a-Watt.
PEC also offers $100,000 in scholarships to local students and one adult seeking to further their education. This is funded by unclaimed funds returned to PEC by the State.
Employee giving
Through our United Charities Program, our employees and PEC provided more than $236,000 to 242 nonprofit organizations. Employees also gave more than 2,500 school supplies for area schools and 550 toys to organizations during the holiday season.
