Can I donate an amount other than the change rounding up my bill?

Where does the money go?
Community Grants are awarded to eligible nonprofits that apply through a competitive process. We also work with education foundations, school districts without an education foundation and certain libraries within, or in a community surrounded by our service area.
Can members choose which organizations receive funds?
No. All funds will be distributed to education foundations, school districts without an education foundation and certain libraries within, or in a community surrounded by our service area, or awarded through PEC Community Grants based on a competitive process. Learn more about what kinds of organizations and projects qualify.
How will the grant recipients be selected?
Once a Community Grant application is received, PEC staff will ensure both the organization and the proposed project are eligible, and the application will be scored based on the evaluation factors listed in the Community Grants eligibility requirements. A separate six-person committee of PEC employees will then review the scoring to ensure it is consistent. The highest scoring applications will be funded.
Recipients will be notified and receive letter agreements to sign and return to PEC, certifying that they will use the awarded funds in accordance with the projects described in their respective applications.
Contributions to education foundations are awarded by request to eligible school districts and libraries within, or in a community surrounded by our service area.
Will any of the money go toward individual members in need?
No. PEC has a member assistance program, which provides funds to agencies that assist individual members in need.
How much of my contribution goes toward program administration?
None. Each contribution is applied in full toward Community Grants.
How can I enroll or cancel?
You can enroll on your electric bill, SmartHub, by calling 888-554-4732 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., or at a PEC office. Cancellation can be made through SmartHub, by phone or at a PEC office.
Are donations to PEC Power of Change tax deductible?
No. Donations to the program are not tax deductible.
What if I have more than one account?
Enrollment is done at the account level, so each account you’d like to participate through must be enrolled or canceled individually.
Are commercial accounts eligible to participate?
Yes. All PEC members on all types of accounts can participate.
