Outages expected to continue
Pedernales Electric Cooperative crews continue to respond to multiple power outages across our service area due to ice accumulation in the Texas Hill Country. Due to the volume of outages it’s difficult to estimate restoration times. Some outages may require more extensive repairs and could extend into Thursday evening.
As of 11 a.m. nearly 90% of PEC members have power. PEC members in the Spring Branch and Bulverde communities continue to experience a prolonged outage. This outage is not due to equipment owned, operated, or maintained by PEC.However, we are working closely with our transmission service provider as they make repairs to their equipment. We are hopeful these members will have power later today and we appreciate their continued patience.
All cooperative employees are working to restore power to our membership. Crews from across the state and country are also joining our restoration efforts. While some outage repairs can restore power to a large number of members, we are seeing a high volume of isolated outages that are difficult to access and take more time to repair. We will continue to work around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Remember these important winter storm safety tips:
- Call 911 immediately to report a downed line or our emergency report line at: 888-883-3379. Call 911 if you are in the event of an emergency.
- Don’t use your stove or oven for heat. Gas stoves and ovens produce carbon monoxide, and electric ones pose a fire risk when not used as designed.
- Don’t run your car in the garage as a way of warming up. Only run the car outside, and before you start it, make sure that the exhaust pipe is clear of snow and debris. Taking these steps could save you and your family from carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Never run a generator closer than 20 feet from doors and windows to prevent fumes from entering the home. If you see a downed line, move away from the line and anything touching it.
