PEC Gives

We work every day to light up the Hill Country, but that means more than just providing power. Through grants, hands-on volunteering, financial donations, and more, we empower and support local organizations to strengthen our community and make the place we love to live even better.

Community grants

Twice a year, we award grants to qualifying nonprofit organizations in our service area. These grants are funded by generous member donations through PEC’s Power of Change.

Employee volunteering

PEC employees are known for donating their time, because we know that the strength of our company lies in the strength of our communities. Year-round, our employees actively volunteer in our community. And, PEC employees come together to support kids in our communities by donating thousands of school supplies and toys to local drives each year.

PEC United Charities

This nonprofit charitable organization allows our employees to donate a portion of their paychecks to local organizations each year. In addition, our board of directors approves an annual match up to $100,000. In 2023, we were able to donate $284,245 to deserving organizations.

Many Hands Program

Does your community need a few helping hands? Let us know! PEC donates labor, surplus materials, and the use of our specialized equipment to eligible organizations.

Hill Country Community Cupboard

The Hill Country Community Cupboard is a community-sponsored project to address hunger in our own neighborhoods. We invite members of the community, including PEC employees, to stock the cupboard, located outside our Johnson City headquarters on the corner of East Ladybird Lane and South Avenue F, with non-perishable food items and personal goods.

Education contributions

Because powerful education is key to the future of Central Texas, we provide financial support to education foundations across our service area. These contributions are funded by member donations through PEC’s Power of Change.

Building assistance

We partner with building assistance charitable organizations to provide free electricity to construct homes, waive start-up fees, and help recipients with their first $100 of electric use. Call 888-554-4732 for more information about participating.
