Interconnection Process

The path toward connecting your distributed generation installation to PEC’s system begins here. This process will take approximately four to six weeks to complete, and PEC is always here to help.

Before you begin the process, review the Distributed Generation (DG) FAQs, including the associated fees and rates.

Next, complete and submit your interconnection application.

Application fee for 50 kW and under: $250
The application fee will be applied to your account to cover the costs to process the application as well as the software and staff time to complete a system impact engineering study.

Application fee for over 50 kW: $150 + actual study cost
The application fee will be applied to your account to process the application as well as the actual cost of a system impact engineering study.

If the system impact engineering study determines that upgrades to PEC’s distribution system are necessary, the member can choose whether to proceed to work with the cooperative on the upgrades as per Section 400 Line Extension Policy in the PEC Tariff and Business Rules.

A PEC representative will contact you to let you know when the application process is complete and confirm if you want to move on to the interconnection agreement step.

You will receive an email notification once your application is approved. If you choose to move forward with the interconnection process, submit a completed Interconnection Agreement for Parallel Operation of Distributed Generation (DG) to [email protected] to get started.

Interconnection fee for 50 kW and under: $400
For 50 kW and below distributed generation systems, the interconnect agreement fee will be applied to your account to cover the work required to complete the agreement step. This fee recovers on-site inspection costs, the cost to change out the meter, and all work needed to setup the account.

Interconnection fee for over 50 kW: $250
For DG systems above 50 kW, the interconnect agreement fee will be applied to your account to cover the work required to complete the agreement step. This fee recovers on-site inspection costs and all work needed to setup the account. A meter change out is not required.

Member and installer, if applicable, will receive a notice of approval to install DG equipment.

Once construction is completed, please contact PEC to request an on-site inspection of your DG system.

PEC will email notice of permission to operate your DG system with the fully executed interconnection agreement.
