Camp Save-a-Watt kicks off

Over 675 kids sign up; Solar Car Derby slated for June 28

Welcome, campers, to our fourth annual Camp Save-a-Watt! Camp began June 3, and we are so excited for you all to see what our camp counselor, Wattson Raccoon, has in store.

You can head on over to pec.coop/camp to find new camp activities and adventures. You’ll also find fun videos, projects, worksheets, and jokes.

Campers are also invited to our third annual Solar Car Derby! On June 28, kids in kindergarten through fifth grade will get a chance to build and race solar cars from 10 a.m. to noon at Putters and Gutters, located at 4100 U.S. 281 North, in Marble Falls. This is a great opportunity for kids to meet fellow campers and learn more about energy conservation and electrical safety. Those attending must RSVP to the event. You can RSVP and learn more here.

And throughout the summer, we will partner with local libraries and communities to host Meet a Lineworker events, where kids and families can meet our heroes in their communities! Here, they’ll get to learn what our lineworkers do every day, try on their gear, and even tour a bucket truck. Wattson will also be on-site at these events. Dates and locations are below:

  • Liberty Hill Public Library — June 7 from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Kyle Public Library — July 3 from 1-3 p.m.
  • Bertram Public Library — July 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

We can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store this summer. Happy camping!
